Many of these variations occur on many stamps, especially h1, h2, h7, h21.

Birch states that the eagle is 'perhaps one of the most fascinating chapters in the study of this stamp... we get good imitations of such birds as the parrot, snipe, curlew. etc. A dozen are listed but many more can be added... The eyes vary a good deal and the "re-touching" of neck, body, wings and legs are a study in themselves'. Some of the beak and eye varieties are in the pictures above - the missing ones are listed below.

Transfixed Eagle. A barbed shaft runs from border of stamp, enters back of neck and emerges again from breast.

Cleft Eagle. A light vertical shaft of colour completely splitting eagle into two. Left wing also is shaded out at outside edge with lighter colour.

Coloured Eagle. The eagle is very highly coloured in contrast to the orb which is pale, (normally these, are identical in colouring on each stamp). The lines outlining the body, legs and wings are either missing or very faint. Cyl 10nd, row 2/5..

Coloured Eagle. Similar to above - highly coloured in contrast to the orb but with the lines on eagle very bold and heavy.

Crown tied to Queen's Tiara. A small chain of spots joins end jewel in crown to tiara.

 
n8 Missing Jewel in Crown. End jewel at right end middle of crown missing.

Double Jewel in Crown at Right. End arm of crown under jewel in cross is crossed with dark line giving appearance of two jewels.

 
n10 Double Jewel at Left. Same cause.

Bulge on Crown. A projection attached to right side of crown just above jewel causes bulge.

Large Flaw in Crown. Circular white flaw along rim of crown. Cyl 7nd, row 13/3. Later corrected.
