Royal events -

31 January 1952 - Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh leave London for first stage of Commonwealth tour. George waves them goodbye at London Airport.

1 February - 2 stamps issued by Uganda-Kenya-Tanganyika for Royal Visit of Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh.

6 February 1952 - Elizabeth II becomes Queen upon the death of her father George VI at Sandringham.

15 February 1952 - The Funeral of King George VI at Windsor.

24 March 1953 - Queen Mary, King George VI's mother dies.

30 March, 2002 - Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 101, with her daughter at her bedside.
